This year I was looking to make more sustainable purchases and build a capsule wardrobe that would last for years, not months. I stumbled upon Pact Clothing by chance, but their website is 100% skinny models, so I had to know: do they fit curvy women like me and are they actually a reputable clothing brand?
In my honest Pact Clothing review, I tested a range of products and did a little research for you.
Pact calls itself Earth’s Favorite Clothing Company and claims that its sustainable clothing is made without toxic dyes or pesticides and always uses organic cotton. Pact is GOT and Fair Trade certified to back this up.
They also work with SimpliZero to offset carbon emissions and have a “good” rating from Good On You, a third-party website that looks in-depth at brands to find out who washes fairly and who doesn’t.
However, Pact lacks a little transparency when it comes to textile waste and energy saving measures, but overall you can rest assured that Pact really is what it claims to be. No tricks here!
Features:
Their ethical clothing is very well made (the stitching is solid, the fabric feels great, etc.) and unlike other organic clothing brands, they are Fair Trade certified, so there’s no greenwashing involved.
The moment I put this dress on, I loudly announced to my husband in the next room that I plan to spend the rest of the summer in it. It’s made from Pact’s best-selling Soft Spun fabric, and I can definitely see why the material is such a hit. It’s lightweight, has just enough “give” to it, and is, true to its name, so soft.
I haven’t been a huge fan of bodycon dresses like these because they’re often either too tight in certain places (like my bust and hips) or too loose in others (like my waist). But that wasn’t the case with this one.
The sizes run small! This was the most disappointing. Companies like Girlfriend Collective are proving that you can be sustainable while being size inclusive. It’s really not that hard, but here we are yet another brand that runs small.
The good news is that Pact offers sizes up to 2XL or 3XL, depending on the item. But when the sizes run small, that means they actually offer sizes up to XL/2XL.
Pact says these pants hit mid-calf on most, but they barely hit my ankles. That didn’t bother me, though. My favorite feature is, of course, the front pockets—though the comfortable yet sturdy wide elastic waistband deserves a shout-out, too. And the woven, double-layered gauze fabric—which looks and feels like luxury linen—seems breathable enough to wear on hot summer days.
I was also not impressed with the fabric colors and, frankly, some of the styles in general. They only offer earthy neutrals, but not all of them are great. This brown color made me feel more like a monk than I wanted.
In my experience, Pact runs small, which is very frustrating. But their clothing is very well made and I have no doubt it will last forever.
